The area of Windy Hollow became a tourist destination in the 1960's when local developer, Tom Miller built a pay fishing lake and added a swimming lake. Later he built a restaurant, campgrounds & more. His twin, Hal Miller, built the racetracks, country store, music barn, tilt house, Jamboree, horseback riding & more.

1970 Windy Hollow Speedway was built as a "D-shaped" dirt track. Over the years, many racers have learned to master the tricky racetrack. The track has hosted events from racing to a Carson and Barnes Circus under the bigtop, horse pulls, tractor pulls, concerts including Hank Williams, Jr. and others. The track was featured on Extreme Makeover:Home Editions as they smashed a home with a monster truck. In 2016, American Pickers made a visit to pick Hal Miller's collection, they started at the dragstrip and speedway.
Over the years, several great track operators have promoted the track. In 2019, the Westerfield Family ended their lease after successfully operating the track. In 2020, the track still wasn't leased due in part by the amount of work required to open then Covid19 closures. In May 2020, Evelyn "Rooster" Miller opted to return to promote the speedway. Rooster will rebuild and remodel much of the 49 year old facility. The plan is to be open for the 50th Anniversary season.
"I am excited to get back into the promotion of the speedway, especially during the 50th anniversary," said Rooster. "This wasn't planned but I know that of all the years, my dad would want me to make sure there was a celebration for 50 years."
